ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – American Home Furniture wants to help ease the strain on health care employees at work and at home.
Saturday, the company loaded up and sanitized brand-new mattresses that will be donated to health care providers across the state. Up to 200 of them will go to workers who have set up separate sleeping quarters from their loved ones to help maintain social distancing orders.
"Some folks are working in the hospitals with COVID-19 and then are coming back and want a safe area to keep their families safe," said Marketing Manager Jack Freed. Health care providers wanting mattresses for donations next weekend can email webadmin@americanhome.com.

Furniture store donates new mattresses to health care providers
We would like to take a moment to tell you about a new program The Network has launched as a direct result of COVID-19. It's called the Home Safe Home Initiative. We were compelled to do this when we learned that one of our rapid re-housing families had been eating their meals on the floor of their new apartment because they had no furniture. Since most of the usual outside resources have suspended operations, we began a furniture-matching effort on social media and started a food and necessities pantry. The Home Safe Home Initiative helps cover utilities costs for families, including internet services so children can do remote learning, items for a food and necessities pantry and costs for new bed mattresses, to name a few. They are not working and no longer have childcare, so they are desperate for housing and financial assistance, ...
